Last week we had the distinct pleasure of compelling an insurance company to settle for policy limits of $100,000 despite an initial offer to the client of $750 (before Apex got involved).
The case involved a passenger who was recovering from unrelated surgery. The other driver was high, texting, and trying to “gun it” through the intersection at high speeds. When this insurance company initially contacted the client, we were not retained. They conflated facts, attempted to tell the client that hiring a lawyer would not do anything to the amount of the offer, and downplayed the event.
As soon as Apex Law was hired we got to work building a comprehensive case and outlining how much trouble their insured would be in if this case went to trial. Not surprisingly, after months of negotiations the case settled favorably for over 100x the original offer.
